Steps to Apply

Step 1

Review the Requirements

Before applying, ensure you meet the following criteria:

  • Age: At least 18 years old.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to perform the essential functions of the trade.

Step 2

Gather Necessary Documents

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate
  • Final high school transcript or GED scores.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Social Security Card
  • Birth Certificate
  • For veterans: submit a copy of your DD214.
  • Additional supporting documents (optional but beneficial):
    • Certifications or specialized training records
    • Resume

Step 3

Submit Documentation

ALL DOCUMENTS WILL NEED TO BE SUBMITTED IN PERSON AT SHEET METAL WORKERS LOCAL UNION HALL, 8374 DEVOE ST., JACKSONVILLE, FL 32220. PLEASE ONLY BRING YOUR DOCUMENTS ONCE YOU HAVE ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TOGETHER, AND WE WILL MAKE OFFICIAL COPIES FOR YOUR FILE.”

Step 4

Complete Online Application

  • Fill out and submit the online application form.
  • Upon submission, you will receive a confirmation email./li>


PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS APPLICATION IS NOT THE OFFICIAL APPRENTICESHIP APPLICATION. THIS APPLICATION IS USED TO GATHER YOUR INFORMATION. ONCE YOU HAVE SUBMITTED ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS, YOU WILL BE PROVIDED WITH A LINK TO COMPLETE THE OFFICIAL APPRENTICESHIP APPLICATION.

Step 5

Interview Process

  • Qualified applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview with a subcommittee of the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC).

Step 6

Ranking and Acceptance

  • After the interview, applicants are placed on a list and ranked based on interview and documentation scores.
  • Rankings are accessible the month following your interview.
  • Accepted candidates will be notified via phone and email.
